Question: What is EZ Cam?
Answer: EZ Cam is a universal iPhone app that runs on iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad. You need two devices to use EZ Cam, and one of those devices must have a camera. The idea is simple, with EZ Cam you can share the built-in camera from an iPhone with both devices at the same time. It's a pretty simple concept, but there are a lot of creative things you can do since the you can be in a different place than the camera. So it's a mobile camera for iPad and a high tech spy camera all in one.
Question: What is the difference between EZ Cam and EZ Cam Lite?
Answer: EZ Cam and EZ Cam Lite are 99% identical with only one difference. EZ Cam Lite is free, but has an iAd Banner. EZ Cam is a paid app, but has no advertisements. Pick the option that is best for you! We recommend you try EZ Cam Lite and see if you like it.
Question: Sometimes Bluetooth mode is really slow to connect or doesn't connect. What do I do?
Answer: Yeah, don't kill the messager here, but some areas have a lot of wireless "traffic" and make it harder to get connected. Other times there is trouble for no real reason at all. Sadly, that happens sometimes with real world communications. The best strategy is simple. Try for like 30 seconds, then close the app and try again. Usually 2 tries is all you need (3 on a bad day). Other tips: You only need to click to connect from one end, but sometimes it works better to click both ends to request a connection. Also Apple claims this never happens, but sometimes the iPhone gets really, really confused. Turn both devices off (via holding down top button) then turn them back on. Just remember, it's never my fault. :) Submit information below if you have other suggestions for folks.
Question: Sometimes Bump is really slow to transfer preview images. What do I do?
Answer: Bump depends on more factors outside of EZ Cam control. It uses your WiFi, 3G, or Edge connection to communicate with a Bump server. It sends the photo information to the Bump server, which then sends the information to the other device. I believe the Bump server farm is in Mountain View, CA so your photo is making a round trip to California before going to the other device. It's a neat technology but can't compare to the Bluetooth speeds. I'd recommend using Bump on a WiFi connection if preview image framerate is really important. Bump is great for using EZ Cam as a camera, but less great when it comes to watching streaming previews.
Question: I purchased EZ Cam on my iPad then I went to download EZ Cam on my iPhone the button says "Buy". Will I have to pay for EZ Cam twice?
Answer: No. I hate that feature of iTunes. It should say something like "Install prior purchase". However, it says "Buy" and it won't be until AFTER you click on "Buy" that it says you have already purchased the program. Just trust that it'll work until the 'feature' on the App store is improved for users.
Question: Why is EZ Cam Lite free? It does the exact same thing as the paid version after you click an ad. What's the catch?
Answer: The catch was watching the ad. That was it. It's free for you for the day if you watch and iAd. Some are pretty neat too. 1 ad for a free day. Given that watching an iAd takes like 15 seconds, it's just a question of how much you value your time. :)
